According to Ronan Farrow in his new book, the former NBC employee tried to take her own life after she was allegedly sexually assaulted by embattled newsman Lauer.

AceShowbiz - Brooke Nevils tried to end her own life after she was allegedly raped by former "Today" show host Matt Lauer back in 2014.

Nevils has detailed the pair's extramarital relations in journalist Ronan Farrow's new book, "Catch and Kill", claiming Lauer lured her back to his hotel room while she was covering the Sochi Olympics in 2014, pushed her against the door and kissed her, before pushing her onto the bed, "flipping her over, (and) asking if she liked anal sex."

She alleges he then proceeded to rape her.

In a new extract from the publication obtained by People, Farrow reveals the devastating affect the alleged incident had on the TV producer, writing: "Over the past two years, Nevils had attempted suicide."

"She's been hospitalised for post-traumatic stress disorder, descended into heavy drinking, pulled herself back," he continues. "She'd lost fourteen pounds... And gone to doctors twenty-one times in a single-month period."

Nevils also spoke to Farrow about the ordeal, telling the journalist: "I've lost everything I cared about. My job. My goals."

"It was non-consensual in the sense that I was too drunk to consent. It was nonconsensual in that I said, multiple times, that I didn't want to have anal sex," she adds of the alleged rape, before insisting subsequent sexual encounters were "completely transactional," adding: "It was not a relationship."

Lauer insists her allegations are "filled with false details" and in a new statement, he insists that he and Nevils "performed oral sex on each other," and had vaginal and anal sex, adding: "Each act was mutual and completely consensual."

He was fired from the "Today" show back in 2017 when Nevils, who then remained anonymous, initially complained about him. Although Nevils maintained she didn't want any money off the back of the allegations, she was eventually paid a "seven figure" sum.
