AceShowbiz - Another actor has been added to the cast lineup of "The Matrix 4". According to Variety, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has been meeting director Lana Wachowski and now he emerges as a frontrunner to take on one of the leading roles in the long-awaiting film.
Abdul-Mateen II is set to join original stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss who will reprise their roles as Neo and Trinity respectively. The production is expected to begin February 2020 in Chicago. No release date has been set for the movie.
Lilly Wachowski, who helmed the first three films with her sibling, will skip the next installment due to her hectic schedule with new Showtime series "Work in Progress". She gave her blessing, however.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II played Black Manta in 2018's DC superhero flick "Aquaman". He also starred in the "Baywatch" remake, the musical movie "The Greatest Showman", and Jordan Peele's horror big hit "Us". His next films include "All Day and a Night".
