The frail rock legend, who has been suffering from debilitating back pain, falls flat on his back from his chair during a live performance in Charlotte, North Carolina.

AceShowbiz - Phil Collins suffered a fall on stage at a gig in Charlotte, North Carolina on Sunday, September 29.

The 68-year-old British musician has mostly performed from a chair due to debilitating back pain during his "Not Dead Yet Live!" comeback tour.

Footage obtained by TMZ.com shows the star getting out of his seat to watch his 18-year-old son Nicolas' drum solo, but then falling flat on his back as he tried to return to his chair. Assistants than rushed to aid the stricken rocker and helped him back into his chair.

The "In the Air Tonight" singer appeared to suffer no ill-effects of the fall, however, as he performed a full set in Detroit, Michigan on Tuesday, October 1.

Phil announced his retirement from music back in 2011, but returned to the stage five years later despite health issues including arthritis and back surgery that left him unable to play the drums.

A fall in the bathroom in 2017 also forced him to delay his comeback and reschedule shows at London's Royal Albert Hall.

In a statement at the time, his team explained the injury by saying: "Phil suffers from 'drop foot' as a result of a back operation which makes it difficult to walk."

Despite his health issues, he embarked on his first North American tour in 12 years, despite using a wheelchair and golf buggy to get around between gigs.

His tour comes to an end in Las Vegas on October 19.
