The 'Paper Roses' hitmaker opens up about her son's tragic death on 'The Talk', saying that then-18-year-old Michael 'was bullied very heavily' before he took his own life.

AceShowbiz - Marie Osmond opened up about her son Michael's suicide nearly ten years after his tragic death. Speaking in the Tuesday, October 1 episode of "The Talk", the singer/actress revealed for the first time that her son was "bullied very heavily" before he took his own life at 18 years old.

"I have never spoken about this before. So, my son who died, he was bullied," she said of what led to her son's suicide. "He was bullied very heavily up until the time he committed suicide because of his sobriety."

Marie said she's still "got the texts" and added, "I mean they are horrendous and I never took action against it." She went on explaining, "But, I can tell you, honestly, I believe that that was a big component in him just feeling overwhelmed and that he didn't fit in. I never took action against the three kids. I know who they are."

While she never confronted those who had bullied her son, Marie hopes there will be some actions taken to prevent other bullying. "Maybe it's not a bad idea to have some kind of consequence because it's getting out of hand," she shared.

Rumer Willis, who served as a co-host on the show that day, also opened up about her own experience with bullying. "I got bullied very, very badly in school when I was younger, very badly," the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore recalled. Expressing her concern about online bullying, she added, "And I truly don't know what would have happened to me if I grew up right now. The issue is systemic bullying, especially [on] social media."

Michael was one of Marie's eight children and one of five she adopted with second husband Brian Blosil. He killed himself by jumping from the eighth floor of his apartment building in Los Angeles in February 2010.

He had reportedly battled depression and addiction, and entered a rehab facility in 2007. However, Marie said in 2009 that her son was thriving, and was earning good grades in his final year of high school.

The former "Donny & Marie" host said last month that she never stops grieving over the loss of her son, Michael. "You know, I don't think you're ever through it," she told "CBS Sunday Morning". "I think God gives you respites, and then all of a sudden it'll hit you like the day it did." She added, "The ripple effect is so huge, what you leave behind."
