In addition to 'The Mandalorian', which also will air on Disney Plus, Chow's directorial credits include 'American Gods', 'The Man in the High Castle', 'Better Call Saul' and 'Marvel's Jessica Jones'.

AceShowbiz - Disney Plus' planned Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series has found its director. Deborah Chow, who directed episodes of the streaming service's upcoming Star Wars project "The Mandalorian", has been hired to serve behind the lens.

"We really wanted to select a director who is able to explore both the quiet determination and rich mystique of Obi-Wan in a way that folds seamlessly into the Star Wars saga," Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said in a statement. "Based on her phenomenal work developing our characters in 'The Mandalorian', I'm absolutely confident Deborah is the right director to tell this story."

In addition to "The Mandalorian", Chow's directorial credits include "American Gods", "The Man in the High Castle", "Better Call Saul" and "Marvel's Jessica Jones".

The upcoming TV series focusing on Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to be written by Hossein Amini with Ewan McGregor reprising his role as the iconic jedi master. Fans of Star Wars may be familiar with the character as it's one of the central figures in the Star Wars mythos. He's portrayed as a desert-dwelling, war-weary hermit in the original 1977 movie. He later proves to be a wise and powerful warrior and also briefly mentors a young Luke Skywalker on Tatooine before being cut down by his former pupil Darth Vader.

McGregor previously confirmed about the forthcoming series during his surprise appearance at Disney's D23 fan convention back in August. During the panel, Kennedy also added that "all the scripts are written" and that the production would "start shooting next year."

The Obi-Wan Kenodi TV series marks the third live-action set in "Star Wars" universe to be airing on Disney Plus. It joins "The Mandalorian" and a series based on Cassian Andor, the character first introduced in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" with Diego Luna reprising his role from the movie. As for "The Mandalorian", the show will star Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers and Nick Nolte among others.
