AceShowbiz - R. Kelly's "friend", who paid his $100,000 bond and helped secure his release from county jail in February, has apparently had a change of heart. The woman, named Valencia Love, has wanted her money back.

The restaurateur, who met the "I Believe I Can Fly" singer on a Lake Michigan boat cruise, is looking for a refund as R. Kelly is now facing federal sex crimes charges in Chicago. Valencia's lawyer John Collins said in court on Tuesday, September 17 that she didn't know when she paid 10% of a $1 million bond that Kelly would be charged federally and land in federal jail. The attorney said his client feared she would lose all the money as charges against the embattled singer keep piling up.

But Judge Lawrence Flood has refused to give her money back. The judge said papers Valencia signed clearly stated that the bond money could be used for R. Kelly's legal fees and that she might never get it back.

Valencia previously only identified herself as a "friend" of R. Kelly when she gave four installments of $25,000 to temporarily free the 52-year-old singer. "I'm not going to say it was my money or [R. Kelly's] and he's not broke," she told Fox32 News at the time. "He's my friend and I knew he needed help. He was going to get out regardless, I just went out there to help my friend."

Valencia also defended his friend as she attempted to justify posting the singer's bond. "Let him have his chance in court to prove if he's innocent or guilty. As a friend if he says he's innocent, I can only believe that he is innocent," she said.

The restaurateur also paid about $50,000 in back child support on the artist's behalf when he was briefly jailed for missing several payments to ex-wife, Andrea Kelly, in March.

R. Kelly's federal child pornography trial in Chicago is scheduled to begin on April 20.
