When asked about the upcoming ninth season of 'American Horror Story', the 'Ocean's 8' actress admits it is 'a little bittersweet' for her not being a part of the hit anthology franchise anymore.

AceShowbiz - Sarah Paulson has teased she might make an appearance in the upcoming ninth season of "American Horror Story".

The star previously revealed she'd chosen to sit out "American Horror Story: 1984", after starring in every season of Ryan Murphy's hit anthology franchise since it started in 2011. But speaking to Entertainment Tonight at the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada on Saturday, September 07, she hinted a cameo role may be on the cards.

"It's a little bittersweet because I have a lot of friends who are still on the show. So I'm getting updates about how it's all going and what they're doing, and I'm like, 'Wait, what? You worked until two (am)? Oh, I remember working until two on that show,'" Paulson shared. "And then I'm also very glad that I can wake up at a decent hour because I'm not cross-eyed from having worked insane nights."

"But it'll be hard. I'll be watching and cheering everybody on. I'm really excited for this season. I think it's a really cool idea for the show this year," the 44-year-old continued, before adding with a smile: "And you never know, I may pop up. You never know. No promises though."

"American Horror Story: 1984" sees the return of cast members Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd and Cody Fern, and welcomes newcomers Gus Kenworthy, Angelica Ross and Matthew Morrison.

"American Horror Story: 1984" premieres on 18 September.
