AceShowbiz - Singer R. Kelly's attorney has asked a federal judge to end the star's solitary confinement behind bars.
The "I Believe I Can Fly" star was placed in solitary for his own protection, but he wants to mingle with other inmates, according to his lawyer Steven Greenberg.
In new legal documents, obtained by TMZ, the star's legal representative insists his client has no meaningful interaction with anyone, no time outside and no access to media or recreational activities.
Kelly is also only allowed to shower three days a week and he can make one 15-minute telephone call per month, according to the paperwork.
Greenberg insists his client hasn't violated any prison rules and has not been convicted of a crime - but he's being treated like he has because of his "celebrity status" and the fact he's charged with sex crimes involving minors.
The lawyer also maintains solitary confinement is taking a toll on Kelly's physical and mental health.
