Olivia Newton-John Reacts to Hugh Jackman's Touching Tribute Amid Her Stage-4 Cancer Battle

Olivia Newton-John responds to Hugh Jackman's touching tribute.

Olivia previously opened up about her battle against stage 4 cancer on "60 Minutes Australia" which aired on Sunday night, August 4. "I'm so lucky that I've been through this three times and I'm still here," she said of her returning cancer. "I'm living with it. It's just reinforced my gratitude."

Olivia was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992. She was declared free of cancer until it returned in 2013. In 2017, doctors told her that the cancer had spread to her bones and would eventually kill her.

During the interview on the TV show, Olivia said that she chose not to focus on how much time doctors say she has left. "When you're given a cancer diagnosis or a scary honest diagnosis, you're suddenly given a possibility of a time limit," she shared. "If somebody tells you, you have six months to live, very possibly you will because you believe that. So for me, psychologically, it's better not to have any idea of what they expect, or what the last person that has what you have lived, so I don't tune in."

She also revealed that she uses cannabis, which she and her husband John Easterling grow at their California home, to alleviate the pain. "I really believe the cannabis has made a huge difference," she said on the show. "If I don't take the drops I can feel the pain, so I know it's working."

Choosing to keep looking on the positive side, the singer/actress/dancer also told PEOPLE, "I'm doing well. I'm thriving. This is my word."

Following the interview, Olivia has received support not just from Hugh, but also from other fans and Twitter users. Perez Hilton tweeted, "Olivia Newton-John's cancer has spread to her bones, BUT... what she says about her illness and how she's treating it is beyond inspiring!"

Another wrote, "Olivia you are an inspiration to thousands keep fighting lots of love and best wishes from [U.K.]" Someone else added, "You're a real sweetheart yourself. Wishing you much light and love."

Another fan commented, "Have always loved her - she's such a gracious, beautiful & strong woman. The absolute best wishes & [praying hands emoji]'s for @olivianj. The very 1st song I performed in front of a group was at a talent show when I was in middle school 'Have You Never Been Mellow' & I even hit that high note!"
