After the Hatebreed frontman deemed her band was not rock enough for the music festival, the 'Get Out' singer argues that it is important for Deftones to promote the idea of a diverse community.

AceShowbiz - Chvrches frontwoman Lauren Mayberry has slammed Hatebreed rocker Jamey Jasta for questioning her band's presence at the Deftones' music festival.

Chvrches were announced as second on the bill at the Dia De Los Deftones Festival in San Diego, California on Monday, July 29 - a decision that angered Jasta, as he didn't think the Scottish indie group were rock enough to justify being billed ahead of French heavy metal band Gojira.

"Who is churches with a v and why the f**k are they playing over Gojira?" he tweeted. "Get tha f******ck outtta here. Have you ever heard The Heaviest Matter In The Universe? You're gonna get embarrassed off the stage lol no offence. God the music industry suckkkkks sometimes."

He later added: "I'm sure they're lovely people and a popular group, I don't agree with the line up order, same w/ other festivals, if anyone is butt hurt about my opinion wait until you hear the podcast! Metal needs to be shown more respect. Longer career, legacy, more albums, bill em higher."

Jamey Jasta said Chvrches wasn't rock enough to perform at Dia De Los Deftones Festival.

Responding, Mayberry posted a GIF image of Rihanna scowling and stated her love of metal and the Deftones, praising the "Back to School" hitmakers for curating a diverse bill that reflected their musical interests.

"I saw Gojira in Glasgow (Scotland) years ago and have seen Deftones three times so was excited when we got asked to be on the bill," she wrote. "Just because someone plays or listens to 'pop music' doesn't mean they don't understand or appreciate other things."

Lauren Mayberry used a Rihanna meme to hit back at Jamey Jasta.

Lauren Mayberry continued to hit back.

In another tweet, she added: "Deftones curated the lineup so I don't know how that speaks to problems with The Music Industry. I think it's important and powerful that they promote the idea of a diverse community and try to bridge gaps instead of being guided by limiting, antiquated ideas about genre."
