AceShowbiz - Meghan Markle made headlines after she was pointed as the guest editor for the September 2019 issue of British Vogue. The Duchess of Sussex chose 15 women labelled "Forces for Change", including model and activist Adwoa Aboah, actresses Laverne Cox, Jane Fonda, and Salma Hayek, and former supermodel Christy Turlington, to grace the cover. However, one particular person was nowhere to be found.

Meghan raised some eyebrows after she excluded Queen Elizabeth in the cover, and the backlash was almost immediate. "Why isn't HM The Queen included on the cover of September's Vogue, @RoyalFamily? Her Majesty is the perfect role model: like many of us she had no choice but to do the job she was given. The ultimate in grace & discretion for 70+ years," one person wrote on Twitter.

Another one, meanwhile, called it "pathetic front page." The person added, "Where are doctors, scientists, teachers. Why a child climate change activist who should be in school? Where is Her Majesty the Queen? #vogue #Meghan #duchessofsussex #selfindulgent."

The Sun's Dan Wootton didn't mince his words when asked about the cover during an interview on ITV's "Lorraine". "The Queen will think this is an absolutely idiotic ridiculous decision, as do I," he said. "Remember Meghan doesn't want to be a celebrity, she says she wants to be a royal. Royals don't guest edit magazines, celebrities guest edit magazines. Do you get me? Do you see the point that I'm making?"

Wootton continued, "I feel I need to bring a bit of reality to the situation. Vogue is probably the most elite expensive snobby fashion-dominated, skinny-dominated magazine in the entire world. This is not some great mainstream force for good, this is a magazine for the elite."

Of the September edition magazine, Meghan said, "These last seven months have been a rewarding process, curating and collaborating with Edward Enninful, British Vogue's Editor-in-Chief, to take the year's most read fashion issue and steer its focus to the values, causes and people making impact in the world today."

"Through this lens I hope you'll feel the strength of the collective in the diverse selection of women chosen for the cover as well as the team of support I called upon within the issue to help bring this to light. I hope readers feel as inspired as I do, by the 'Forces for Change' they'll find within these pages," the new mom added.
