AceShowbiz - Ariana Grande has come under fire for her joke about slain 6-year-old pageant princess JonBenet Ramsey. The "Thank U, Next" singer was criticized for making insensitive comments about the child beauty queen while commenting on pal Doug Middlebrook's Instagram post on Sunday, July 29.
Doug shared a photo of JonBenet on a newspaper cover alongside a caption that read, "No one has done more covers." Later, the 26-year-old pop star wrote in the comment section, "I can't WAIT for this to be your halloween look," to which Dough responded, "Working on it already."
Unsurprisingly, the backlash came almost immediately. Many social media users called her out for the insensitive remarks in the now-deleted comment. Following the criticism, Doug had also deleted his post though it didn't do anything to the damage control as people had reposted the post on social media.
"I need people to stop with this strange, very unnerving JonBenet Ramsey obsession. Jeffree Star has her tattooed on him. Ariana Grande is endorsing her as a Halloween costume. She is not a character or celebrity. She is a little girl who was murdered. It's cruel and gross," a person tweet. Another critic wrote, "Ariana Grande & her friend doug make a joke about the tragic death of a child that was abused, tortured and murdered was so Immature and cruel. Joking about a JonBenet Ramsey Halloween costume is distasteful and disgusting."
"Wait WHAT?? an 8-year-old girl who was violently killed, strangled and suffocated cannot be anyone's costume...," said one other user. Ariana then responded to the user, expressing her remorse. "yeah no i deleted it very quickly and understand that it's not at all funny. this was out of pocket and i sincerely apologize," she said to the fan.

"Can someone please let ariana breathe omg. She did wrong and she's now apologizing , so just get over it. There are some artists that do really bad s**t and they dont say a word about it. Ariana is recognizing that she did wrong and that she overstepped about this. Get this done," wrote the fan in a now-deleted tweet.
