Remains found in a remote area northeast of Selma are believed to be those of the 'Alice' and 'Seinfeld' alum, who was reported missing on July 8 by his son.

AceShowbiz - Body of missing actor Charles Levin may have been found. The Grants Pass Department of Public Safety said on Sunday, July 14 that human remains found on Saturday in a remote area northeast of Selma, Oregon are believed to be those of the 70-year-old actor, who is best known for the role of Elliot Novak on the 1970s-'80s sitcom "Alice".

Charles was reported missing from Grant Pass on July 8 by his son after he hadn't heard from his father for several days, according to The Oregonian/Oregon Live. Charles' son told NBC affiliates KOBI/KOTI that his father was in the process of moving when he disappeared. He drove an orange 2012 Fiat and was "almost always in the company of his fawn-colored pug dog, Boo Boo Bear," Grant Pass public safety said in a news release last week seeking information about the actor's whereabouts.

Using GPS data from Charles' cell phone, search and rescue crews were able to narrow down a search area to a region near the town of Selma, southwest of Grants Pass on Friday. A local resident found Charles' car on "very remote and almost impassable road" around 8 P.M. on Saturday. The car was off the road and disabled due to the terrain.

Charles' dog Boo Boo Bear was found dead inside the vehicle. After hours of intense search of the area around the car, crews found human remains.

"Levin was not in his car, or in the immediate proximity of his vehicle," the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety announced on Sunday. "After several hours of searching, human remains were located. Based on the circumstances, there is a high probability that the remains are those of Charles Levin."

No other details were given, and the medical examiner will make the final identification.

Charles had a recurring role of Eddie Gregg on "Hill Street Blues" from 1982 to 1986 and is also known for playing the mohel who snips part of Jerry's finger on "Seinfeld". His other credits include guest-starring roles on "Family Ties", "The Twilight Zone", "Murphy Brown", "NYPD Blue" and "Law & Order".
