AceShowbiz - Amber Portwood made headlines after she was arrested for assaulting her boyfriend Andrew Glennon with a machete on Friday, July 5. The "Teen Mom OG" star was charged with three felonies including domestic battery, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and domestic battery in the presence of a child.
A new report details what led the 26-year-old to be having the blowout fight as a source said that Amber "wasn't just upset out of nowhere." The source shared to Us Weekly, "There were things going on between her and Andrew that led to this."
Amber, who shares 1-year-old son James with Andrew, was said to be looking to "simplify" things after her last relationship with Matt Baier. However, "Andrew has seemed totally different," according to the insider.
"For the most part, it has been good, but lately a few issues have popped up that have made her question things and challenge her trust in him," the insider continued. "She has been through a lot. She just wants to be able to trust someone, and there have been major issues."
Amber was bailed out not long after her arrest. Following the assault, Andrew reportedly filed paperwork on Tuesday in attempt to gain sole custody of their one-year-old son James, just four days after Amber's arrest. It was said that he filed a petition for an emergency hearing regarding the paternity and custody of their child.
It was also said that the MTV star threatened suicide before the incident. Additionally, she allegedly swallowed a "handful of pills." A court document revealed that during their argument, "Ms. Portwood went to her drawer and took a handful of Klonopin and tossed it back like it was nothing." She, however, "regurgitated the pills" when Andrew said he was going to call for help.
