AceShowbiz - Earlier this week, basketball fans were in an uproar after several NBA players were deactivated from the BIG3 basketball league. Among them was Lamar Odom, who expressed his disappointment on Instagram on Friday, July 12 following the news.
Alongside a throwback photo of him in his basketball jersey, Lamar explained how he was embarrassed and "extremely disappointed" because he learned of news of his ousting through social media, and not from Ice Cube himself. He also mentioned that the league did not give a specific explanation as to why he was booted from the league.
"I was told after Game #1 that I had been given extra time to get stronger. I have been working hard daily to get in better game shape. The willingness & intent has always been there to play," the 39-year-old athlete went on writing. Despite the disappointment, Lamar vowed to stay positive as saying, "I am aware that at some point in life we have to accept & surrender to what God has planned or not planned for us so I am staying positive. I worked very hard to make a comeback in my life & no rejection can stop me."
He also voiced his support to Ice Cube, writing, "I am proud & rooting hard for Ice Cube to build this league to the next level. He is the only black male owning a sports league in the USA, just let that one sink in for a moment." Concluding his post, the "Khloe & Lamar" alum said, "Let's all be open to live with the concept of feedback because this can help us to improve. I hope that we can use this situation as a lesson to grow, heal and become better people."
Besides Lamar, other players who were cut off by the league included Baron Davis, Jermaine O'Neal and Bonzi Wells. Ice Cube addressed the reason for the cut in an interview with TMZ Sports, pointing out that the league couldn't afford players who have "health issues" to be sitting on the bench the entire time. "We want players that are actually playing," he said.
Lamar was attempting to make his comeback years after his near-fatal overdose. However, in three games, he only recorded two points and four rebounds.
