AceShowbiz - A group of Michael Jackson fans has sued the stars of the "Leaving Neverland" documentary for sullying the late King of Pop's image.
Members of The Michael Jackson Community, the MJ Street and On the Line fan clubs have accused Wade Robson and James Safechuck of defaming their hero in the film with claims of alleged child abuse.
The fans are seeking damages through the French court system, and lawmakers will rule on their complaint in early October.
The plaintiffs' lawyer, Emmanuel Ludot, has called Robson and Safechuck's allegations a "genuine lynching" of Jackson, who died 10 years ago last month (June 2009).
The fan groups are seeking symbolic damages of 1 euro ($1.13) each.
"Leaving Neverland" was broadcast in France earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Ludot has a history with cases like this - in 2014 he represented the Michael Jackson Community when the group successfully won nominal damages from the pop star's physician, Conrad Murray, for his part in Jackson's death.
