Taking a break from her maternity leave, the Duchess of Sussex watches her friend and tennis ace win her second round competition against Slovenian competitor Kaja Juvan.

AceShowbiz - New mum Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex celebrated America's Independence Day by cheering her close friend Serena Williams to victory at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships.

The British royal made an unexpected appearance at the annual London tournament on Thursday, July 04, when she joined her pals Lyndsay Roth and Genevieve Hillis to watch the second round match between American superstar Williams and her Slovenian competitor Kaja Juvan.

Williams initially dropped the first set, but rallied to beat Juvan 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.

Meghan's visit to the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club marked her third public outing - and her first without husband Prince Harry - since giving birth to her son Archie in early May.

She appeared to pay tribute to her first child with her Wimbledon outfit by wearing a delicate necklace which featured the letter 'A'.

The Duchess' appearance came just two days before she and Prince Harry prepare to have their baby christened in a small, private ceremony at Windsor Castle, where the couple wed last year (2018) and introduced little Archie to the world in his first photoshoot two days after his arrival.

Buckingham Palace officials have since revealed a few photos from the event will be made public, although the names of the child's godparents will not be released.
