AceShowbiz - Clint Eastwood's new movie about the security guard caught up in the 1996 Olympics bomb drama has been saved by the studio bosses behind "The Mule" after Disney executives dropped the project last week.
Warner Bros. chiefs will now bankroll "The Ballad of Richard Jewell" after acquiring the rights from Fox-Disney.
Eastwood has signed on to direct the film about Jewell, who was wrongly accused of planting the bomb he found in a bag at the Atlanta Olympics in Georgia.
He was initially identified as a hero who had saved countless lives, but then the local media reported he was being considered a suspect.
Jewell was cleared of the charge three months later.
Jonah Hill and Leonardo DiCaprio were previously attached to star, but they will now produce the movie Warner Bros. bosses have picked up, alongside Eastwood.
Eastwood's last collaboration with Warner Bros., "The Mule", was a hit, scoring $172 million (£135 million) at the worldwide box office, according to Variety.
