AceShowbiz - As many people keep buzzing about Robert Pattinson's potential casting in Matt Reeves' "The Batman", it's not surprising to know that reporters bombarded the actor with questions regarding the report when he attended Cannes Film Festival to promote his new movie "The Lighthouse". But instead of giving an answer, Pattinson remained mum.

When asked about the casting rumor during the press conference for the Robert Eggers-directed movie, the leading man in "Twilight" film franchise simply responded while smiling, "I am only answering questions about 'The Lighthouse'." He was also asked the same question during an interview with GALA Magazine, but he still refused to give an answer.

"What can you tell us about being chosen to be the next Batman?" so the interviewer asked, to which Pattinson replied, "I'm sorry, but I absolutely can't talk about that."

Variety reported that Pattinson is close to landing the role and is currently in negotiations for the movie. However, Deadline said that it's not been set just yet, and that "Dark Phoenix" and "Tolkien" star Nicholas Hoult is still in the running for the part.

Reeves' "The Batman" will focus on a younger Bruce Wayne than he was in previous movies. It has been rumored that the upcoming movie will feature a bunch of comic book villains, including the Penguin and Catwoman. This prompted Robsten fans to rally for Kristen Stewart to get cast as Catwoman alongside her ex-boyfriend. However, a new report suggests that Vanessa Hudgens is apparently the one who is up for the role.

The report also states that Richard E. Grant is cast as Bruce Wayne's butler Alfred Pennyworth, while Jason Clarke and Keri Russell will play Thomas and Martha Wayne respectively. Other actors that are rumored to join the cast of the movie include Toby Kebbell as Scarecrow and Theo Rossi as Bane.
