While the seven members of the group sport classic suits during their appearance, host Stephen Colbert channels Ed Sullivan when introducing the boyband in front of screaming audience.

AceShowbiz - BTS (Bangtan Boys) wanted to make their first appearance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" extra special. Stopping by the talk show on Wednesday, May 15, the seven-piece South Korean group paid homage to The Beatles by recreating the legendary rock band's iconic debut performance on "The Ed Sullivan Show" back in 1964. What's more, it was recorded at the Ed Sullivan Theater in Manhattan.

Going all in for the tribute, the show even aired in black and white to give off nostalgic vibes even more. Even host Stephen Colbert dressed and behaved like Ed Sullivan when he introduced BTS in front of screaming audience. "You may have heard there's a new musical craze sweeping the globe, these fellas are really something. They're called BTS and people are so excited you can only call it BTS Mania," he said in a similar way Ed introduced The Beatles back then.

"These boys are from across the pond, the big one, the one with Hawaii in the middle. They really are a fine group of youngsters, in fact, you can call them the fab seven. It's got a nice ring to it," Stephen continued, before letting the members of the group introduce themselves. He later jokingly referred to them all as "the cute one."

BTS then proceeded to perform their latest single, "Boy with Luv", without featuring artist Halsey. The stage was made similar to the one where The Beatles performed "I Want to Hold Your Hand" on "The Ed Sullivan Show", complete with a drum set at the back. In addition to that, the boys were clad in classic suits for the performance.

The idea for the segment came about due to the performance location as well as the frequent comparison between BTS and The Beatles. The former had three No. 1 albums in 11 months, a feat that hasn't been accomplished since The Beatles released their three anthologies in 1995.
