The 'Ocean's 8' star has been presented with the 2,663rd star on Hollywood Boulevard on May 9 in a ceremony that saw co-star Awkwafina saluting her as 'truly a legend.'

AceShowbiz - Anne Hathaway paid tribute to Los Angeles' Native Americans as she was honoured with the 2,663rd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, May 09.

The actress opened her acceptance speech by thanking the Tongva - the original inhabitants of the city.

"I started to think about the land that goes underneath the star, that land that goes beneath all of these stars, and how it was cared and kept for millennia, more than millennia, by the Tongva people," she said.

"I think it's important to mention that they still live here today. So the soul and the spirit that runs through the earth beneath us originates with and continues to be kept by them. So I would like to begin by thanking the Tongva people and by acknowledging that they are the rightful keepers of the land this star is on."

Anne's parents and her husband, Adam Shulman, attended the ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard and Anne thanked them for their "tremendous and enlightened love."

"I am able to walk through this world as I do because you make me safe, held, seen and adored. I love you."

Among those saluting the latest star recipient at the ceremony was Hathaway's "Ocean's 8" castmate Awkwafina, who noted her generation had "grown up with" Hathaway's movies, and called her friend, "truly a legend."
