To be premiered in May, 'Surviving R. Kelly: The Impact' will feature among others, a look at the 'I Believe I Can Fly' hitmaker's infamous TV breakdown during an interview with Gayle King.

AceShowbiz - Top U.S. newswoman Soledad O'Brien is hosting a follow-up to the damning "Surviving R. Kelly" TV docu-series.

The Lifetime show, which chronicled years of sexual abuse allegations against the singer, was a huge hit when it debuted on America's Lifetime network earlier this year, and now O'Brien will front a two-hour special, titled "Surviving R. Kelly: The Impact".

The show is scheduled to premiere on 4 May.

It takes a look at the way the docu-series changed the culture on sex assault in America, leading to a spike in calls to sexual assault hotlines and protests against Kelly, who has since been indicted on 10 felony counts of aggravated sexual assault involving four victims, ultimately leading to his arrest.

The special features interviews with legal experts and psychologists and a good look at Kelly's now-infamous TV breakdown during an interview with Gayle King.

"Surviving R. Kelly" was recently named the recipient of the 2019 LA Press Club President's Award for Impact on Media.
