Along with Nicholas Osborne, the 'Beasts of No Nation' filmmaker will serve as the writer and executive producer of the small screen project which pilot will be directed by Nicole Kassell.

AceShowbiz - Director Cary Joji Fukunaga is helping to write a TV adaptation of historical novel "The Last of the Mohicans".
The "Beasts of No Nation" filmmaker will write the new series with Nicholas Osborne, while Nicole Kassell, who is behind the upcoming "Watchmen" TV pilot, will direct the show, reports Deadline.
The project will serve as a retelling of James Fenimore Cooper's 1826 book, about an unlikely romance set during the French and Indian War, known as the Seven Years War, of the mid-1700s.
"The clash of civilizations during the Seven Years War, which frames the story of Last of the Mohicans, has been a long-time passion of mine," Fukunaga shared in a statement.
"It was a world war before the term even existed. The opportunity to recreate the story's strong-willed and free-thinking characters, with talents including Nick Osborne and Nicole Kassell, is incredibly exciting to me. Together with (producers at) Paramount TV and Anonymous Content, we have the chance to revive the forgotten ancestors that define American identity today."
Fukunaga, Kassell, and Osborne will be among the executive producers of the show.
"The Last of the Mohicans" has been adapted for both TV and film on numerous occasions, most recently in 1992, with Daniel Day-Lewis as the movie's lead.
