The "Holding Her and Loving You" singer passed away in Nashville, Tennessee, and Shelton and Keith were among the first people to offer up their respects.

Shelton actually broke the news online with an emotional post, writing, "My heart is absolutely destroyed today. I'm sad to report that Earl Thomas Conley passed away very early this morning."

"Earl was my all time favorite singer, hero and my friend. Prayers to his family. We will all miss you deeply my brother. Now go rest...".

Shelton scored a 2002 hit with "All Over Me", which he co-wrote with Conley.

Toby added, "An all time great. Earl Thomas Conley passed away today. Huge influence on me. Loved him. Prayers to his family."

Conley hit the top of the country charts 18 times over the last 40 years and was nominated for a handful of ACM and CMA Awards.
