AceShowbiz - Taylor Swift poked fun at her critics as she collected the Tour of the Year prize at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday night, March 14, joking she loved reading stories about her biggest "flop".
The pop superstar showed off a new pink-haired look as she collected the first of two early awards at the prizegiving, thanking her fans for making her haters look stupid.
"I think one of the most wonderful things about the way that this whole tour turned out is that for, like, the entire six months leading up to the first show of this tour, every headline that I read about the tour was, 'This is going to be a massive failure. This is going to be a flop tour'," the "Gorgeous" singer chuckled. "And it really did wonders for my self-esteem."
"It was really great to hear people saying that I was gonna be playing to nearly empty stadiums."
But the fans stuck by her and came out in droves, breaking attendance records and selling out venues all over the world.
She added, "I've learned a lot, and one of the things I learned is that life is really unpredictable. And people can make forecasts and predictions, but those predictions and forecasts may not come true if there’s an unforeseeable factor involved, and that unforeseeable factor in this case was my fans. I honestly owe everything in my life to you."
"I wanna thank you if you came out and saw the show in perfect weather, or if you came to one of our many rain shows that we had. And I also wanna say thank you if you just watched the show on Netflix! You guys are the reason why this tour, the only reason why this tour, wasn't a massive failure, and why it ended up being the highest-selling tour in U.S. history. That's you..."
"I love your passion, I love your attention to detail, I love how much you care."
Taylor also claimed the night's Best Music Video honour for "Delicate".
