AceShowbiz - Peter Thomas will soon find his freedom after getting arrested for writing a fake $4,000 check last week. "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" alum is set to be released from jail soon after resolving his case. TMZ first broke the story.

Keith A. Doley, Thomas' attorney, told the publication that the case "appears to have been a very big misunderstanding on several people's part," adding that his client didn't have "a malicious intent." Thomas has since resolved the case by paying the $4,000 he owed through Doley, so the district attorney will not be moving forward with the case.

The St. John the Baptist Parish District Attorney's Office has since notified the Sheriff's Office about the settlement, so Thomas will soon be set free. He is currently in custody in Miami.

Thomas was arrested at Miami International Airport on March 1 for writing a fake check in Louisiana. In an official statement obtained by The Associated Press, the ex-husband of Cynthia Bailey said that the allegations were false and that he would be "acquitted from any wrongdoing."

His former "RHOA" co-star NeNe Leakes reacted to his arrest during an appearance on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen". Learning the news from host Cohen, the TV personality said, "Now that you are telling me, my reaction is wow. Amazing," before adding, "I love Peter."

Thomas joined "RHOA" season 3 along with his then-wife Bailey. The two announced their separation in 2016 before finalizing their divorce in 2017. "I am definitely taking some time to myself to figure out how I want to move forward," Bailey said in a statement at the time. "I don't want to rush into anything, so I think this time apart is good for us."

Despite their divorce, Thomas still continues to make cameo appearances on the Bravo show. The restaurateur visited NeNe and Greg Leakes at their home in the latest season of the show.
