In a statement, the singer says that the ballad is about him 'climbing out of the low period, defying my disillusionment, owning my needs and opening my heart.'

AceShowbiz - Adam Lambert has returned with brand new music after two years. The former contestant of "American Idol" unearthed a new single entitled "Feel Something" on Friday, February 22. Written by him, Benedict Cork and Josh Cumbee, the song will be included on his upcoming album, which still doesn't have a title or a release date.

In a statement accompanying the release of the song, the singer says that the ballad is about him "climbing out of the low period, defying my disillusionment, owning my needs and opening my heart." The song also finds him expressing his desperation to feel something as he's struggling to fall in love, hence the lyrics, "I don't need to feel love/ I just wanna feel something."

Noting that "Feel Something" is an "emotional starting point of my new album," Adam admits that he has "found the joy I was missing and I'm back in my power" after writing the song. He also teases that songs off his upcoming record "will chronicle the journey of taking responsibility for my own happiness and strength, and searching for intimacy."

This song marks the first song that Adam released with his new management company and record label.

Through his statement, he also thanks his fans for always supporting him and opens up about "the dark period" of his life after dispute with his former management company. He admits that the differences between him and the firm led to him feeling depressed, but he eventually started to recover after touring with Queen.

"I have also been touring with Queen which recharges me with tons of positive energy," he says. "Together we have collaborated creatively on our tours and this helped to reaffirm my confidence in my artistry. Working with Queen helped keep my head above water, and I am so grateful to the spirit of Freddie Mercury, who has always inspired me to push ahead boldly."
