AceShowbiz - Marvel's Loki TV series has found its showrunner. The spin-off centering on the God of mischief has "Rick and Morty" scribe Michael Waldron attached as its point person. Additionally, Waldron will pen the pilot, serve as show creator as well as executive produce the project, The Hollywood Reporter states.

The new report also offers more plot details of the planned TV series which is set to air on Disney+. A source reveals that it will follow Loki as "the trickster and shape-shifter pops up throughout human history as an unlikely influencer on historical events."

It remains to be seen what time period that the new series will take place in. However, fans assume that it will most likely set in Europe given the Norse inspiration behind the character. Not to mention that Loki is able to get off of Asgard without anyone noticing, so it would be interesting to see the adventures he has on Earth.

Marvel declines to comment.

The upcoming series, which is the only series that Disney has officially confirmed so far, is expected to have Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as Loki. He first played the character in 2011's "Thor". Loki is among those who met his demise at the end of "Avengers: Infinity War", so it appears that Disney+ and Marvel have found a run around that little impediment.

The Loki series is the third Marvel TV project on Disney+ that has landed a showrunner. Previously, "Scarlet Witch & The Vision" and "The Falcon & The Winter Soldier" announced that "Captain Marvel" writer Jac Schaeffer and "Empire" writer Malcom Spellman were tapped as their writer respectively.

As for Waldron, he is currently working on "Florida Man" with Steven Soderbergh for Paramount Network. He is also writing and producing on the upcoming season of Cartoon Network's acclaimed "Rick and Morty". His credits also include "The Worst Guy of All Time (and the Girl Who Came to Kill Him)".
