Artist of the Week: J. Cole
Music

After taking over the chart with his standalone single 'Middle Child', the rapper will apparently follow it up with several projects he has been working on.

AceShowbiz - Ever since J. Cole released his debut mixtape "The Come Up" in early 2007, his music has always been something that people look forward to. His latest song, "Middle Child", is not an exception. With only one day of tracking, the song arrived at No. 26 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart before peaking at No. 4 on the weekly chart. On Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, the song peaked at No. 2.

The achievement that he got through this song was considerably amazing given the fact that he recorded "Middle Child" in one day only. T-Minus, who helped produce the song, revealed in an interview, "It all happened in one day. We filled this beat out, he started writing to it, he recorded it--it was pretty much done within that day. The whole record."

It appears his chart-dominating days will still continue for some time because Cole has several projects in the works. Among them is his ambitious Dreamville recording session which will be compiled into an album called "Revenge of the Dreamers III". Last month, the rapper confirmed that they had finished recording. He additionally proclaimed that it would be "going down the history."

More than 100 artists are included on the project, including Gabi Wilson a.k.a. H.E.R., Wale, Lil Baby, DJ Khaled, Rick Ross, Lil Baby, T.I. and Akon.

Besides the compilation album, Cole has also been in the studio working on his sixth effort. Details of the album has yet to be released. It also remains unknown whether it will be his previously-announced project "The Fall Off" or his Kill Edward project. For the unfamiliar, Kill Edward is Cole's alter ego who is featured on "KOD" tracks "The Cut Off" and "Friends".

The forthcoming effort will be a follow-up to his fifth studio album "KOD", which was released on April 20, 2018 and debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart.
