The 'Bad Romance' singer is emotional when accepting Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for 'Shallow', while the rapper isn't present to accept the trophy for his hit 'This Is America'.

AceShowbiz - The 2019 Grammy Awards has finally kicked off. Following a series of performances and an opening monologue by host Alicia Keys, Lady GaGa was honored with Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her duet with Bradley Cooper "Shallow". The song beat the likes of "Fall in Line" by Christina Aguilera and Demi Lovato as well as "Girls Like You" by Maroon 5 and Cardi B.

GaGa, who was backstage at the time of the announcement, immediately burst into tears as soon as she learned the news. Taking the stage to accept the award, an emotional Gaga said, "I gotta thank God, thank you for looking out for me. I wish Bradley was here with me right now. I know he wants to be here."

As Tony Bennett cheered her on from the audience, she continued, "I'm so proud to be part of a movie that addresses mental health issues they're so important. A lot of artists deal with that, and we've got to take care of each other. So if you see somebody who's hurting, don't look away."

The "A Star Is Born" soundtrack previously nabbed the coveted Best Song Written for Visual Media.

More performers then hit the stage before the second winner of the night was announced. Childish Gambino a.k.a. Donald Glover took home the coveted Song of the Year for his hit "This Is America", which was also announced as the winner of Best Rap/Sung Performance during the pre-show. The rapper was not present to accept the trophy, which he got after defeating Ella Mai's "Boo'd Up" and Shawn Mendes' "In My Blood" among others.

Hosted by Keys, the 61st Grammy Awards is being broadcast live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on CBS on Sunday, February 10. Kendrick Lamar leads the nominations with eight nods, followed by Drake with seven.
