AceShowbiz - The story of "The Walking Dead" will continue for another season. AMC has announced that the apocalyptic zombie drama has been renewed for a tenth season.
The renewal announcement was made on Monday, February 4 via the show's official Twitter account. The show unveiled a video which featured the Whisperers before it was revealed that upcoming season 10 would arrive in October.

Back in November 2018, showrunner Angela Kang already hinted that she had been working on season 10. "I'm already working on Season 10 stuff," Kang revealed to ComicBook.com. "Yeah, trying to get a little bit of a jump on it, so after I do this round of press calls today I'm actually gonna jump back in with a couple of my senior writers and we're gonna talk about some stuff, just because it's like we want to get a head start on things."
She continued, "But it's sort of like the process doesn't end on our side of it, because it takes about a year and a half to make a season of the show, but we always air about the same time every year, so there's always about like a half a year overlap."
The upcoming season was also expected to feature the return of Maggie (Lauren Cohan). "We will hopefully come back to Maggie's story in Season 10," Kang shared at that time. "Lauren and I have been texting about some things, and we're hopefully gonna schedule a conversation, but Georgie's group is definitely out there in the world doing some stuff, and I have some notion of what they're up to. They may also be part of the universe in general."
The renewal arrives prior to the show's season 9 mid-season premiere. The second half of the season will be focusing on the Whisperers, the villainous group who wears the skin of walkers in order to blend in with the herds. They made their appearance in season 9 mid-season finale.
"The Walking Dead" returns for the back half of season 9 on February 10 on AMC.
