The 'Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark' teasers reveal some of the scary supernatural creatures, while the 'Us' snippet sees the evil version of Lupita Nyong'o's and Winston Duke's characters.

AceShowbiz - TV viewers might have a restless night after watching the Super Bowl spots for "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" and "Us". Debuted online prior to the big game on Sunday night, February 3, the sneak peeks for the two movies evoke nightmares in their own different ways.

Based on the children's book series of same name by Alvin Schwartz, "Scary Stories" has unleashed several teasers, each of which highlights different monster. The first TV spot teases "The Big Toe", which features a grotesque undead woman looking for her missing big toe that was dug up from a garden.

The second one offers a glimpse of The Jangly Man who is lurking in the dark. The third one features Pale Lady from "The Dream". The malformed woman creeps down a hallway in the said snippet. In the fourth and last ad, a girl looking at her reflection in the mirror is terrified to see something moving under a big "Red Spot" on her face.

The TV spot for "Us", meanwhile, features Lupita Nyong'o's Adelaide Wilson who senses that strange things starting to happen to her family ever since they arrived at their holiday destination. The rest of the video doesn't offer much new footage though, as it sees the evil version of Adelaide and her family hunting them at their own home.

"Scary Stories" is set in 1968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind...but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time-stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah's terrifying tome.

It stars Zoe Colletti, Michael Garza, Austin Abrams and Gabriel Rush among others, with Andre Ovredal serving behind the lens. Guillermo del Toro co-writes and co-produces the horror film, which is slated to open in U.S. theaters on August 9.

As for "Us", it's another psychological thriller from Jordan Peele to follow up his directorial feature film debut, "Get Out". The story follows a mother and a father who take their kids to their beach house expecting to unplug and unwind with friends. But as night descends, their serenity turns to tension and chaos when some shocking visitors arrive uninvited.

Written by Peele himself, it has the likes of Winston Duke, Elisabeth Moss, Yahya Abdul Mateen II and Anna Diop on the cast ensemble. The movie is due out March 22 after premiering at SXSW on March 8.
