Joining the 'Selma' helmer in voicing support for Colin Kaepernick is Nick Cannon who urges people to make charity campaign to the former NFL quarterback's Know Your Rights Campaign.

AceShowbiz - Director Ava DuVernay is planning to boycott Sunday's (February 03) Super Bowl to protest the alleged "racist treatment" of embattled American footballer Colin Kaepernick.

The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback claims he has been shut out by National Football League (NFL) team owners ever since he started to kneel during the pre-game U.S. national anthem in 2016 to highlight racial injustice and police brutality.

His plight has won him the support stars like Jay-Z, Rihanna, and Cardi B, who have each reportedly turned down the opportunity to take centre stage at the Super Bowl Halftime Show in the past two years to stand with Kaepernick.

Now Ava is stepping up her activism by refusing to watch the American football championship, the biggest sporting event in the U.S. calendar, when it kicks off between the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams in Atlanta, Georgia on Sunday.

"I will not be a spectator, viewer or supporter of the #SuperBowl today in protest of the @NFL's racist treatment of @Kaepernick7 and its ongoing disregard for the health + well-being of all its players," she tweeted. "To watch the game is to compromise my beliefs. It's not worth it. #ImWithKap".

Meanwhile, TV personality Nick Cannon also pledged his support to Kaepernick by making a charity donation to the athlete's Know Your Rights Campaign, which aims to empower and educate youths about how to properly interact with law enforcement officials in difficult situations.

"#ImWithKap #7Challenge! I am donating $7 to Colin's Know Your Rights Camp," Cannon posted on social media. "The number 7 symbolizes Kap's jersey number. I challenge you to donate $7 to @YourRightsCamp and nominate 7 others to do the same. Go to https://KnowYourRightsCamp.com and click donate. @Kaepernick7".

Rapper/actor Common and actress Lena Waithe have also voiced their backing to Kaepernick in the lead up to the Super Bowl Sunday kick-off.
