Claiming she was 'too selfish' to want a baby before 35, the 'Welcome to Marwen' actress praises partner Norman Reedus for teaching her a lot about their baby daughter.

AceShowbiz - New mum Diane Kruger appears to have taken aim at her longtime ex, Joshua Jackson, in a candid new interview, revealing she was "waiting for the right person" before starting a family.

The "Inglourious Basterds" star gave birth to her first child, a daughter, in November (2018) after finding love with "The Walking Dead" actor Norman Reedus, and now reveals he was the correct man for the job.

Kruger started dating Norman shortly after ending her 10-year romance with Jackson in 2016 and in a candid interview with Net-A-Porter's digital magazine, PorterEdit, she explains she was "too selfish" for children before taking the leap and deciding to become a mum.

The 42 year old, who was previously married to French actor Guillaume Canet from 2001 to 2006, admits she started thinking about starting a family before she and Reedus, who has 19-year-old son from his romance with model Helena Christensen, were an item.

"I think, as you grow older, you learn that things come to you when you're ready for them," she says. "I'm glad I waited to have a baby."

"I was too selfish. But by the time I got to about 35, I thought, yes, I probably do want one. But then you have to wait for the right person to come along."

And she's convinced she found the right guy, adding, "Norman is so calm, and he teaches me a lot, because he's done it before. There's definitely something to be said for being with someone who is doing it (parenthood) for the second time."

But they're not planning to rush down the aisle and get married.

"Never say never," Diane laughs. "I'm not religious, so that aspect of marriage doesn't mean anything to me. There's obviously a financial security that comes with marriage, but I'm financially independent - I don't need anyone for that."
