AceShowbiz - While President Donald Trump has postponed the State of the Union address, Stephen Colbert has got an idea of who should deliver the Democratic rebuttal. The host of "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" has started a petition for the Democrats to let Cardi B deliver the rebuttal to the SOTU.
"I am starting a petition for the Democrats to let @iamcardib give the rebuttal to the SOTU. Sign it by retweeting this!" the comedian tweeted on late Wednesday, January 23. On Thursday, the tweet has garnered more than 28,000 retweets and 50,000 likes.

Colbert's idea for the nomination was likely inspired by Cardi's recent statements criticizing Trump for the partial government shutdown. "Trump is now ordering, as in summoning, federal government workers to go back to work without getting paid," she said in an Instagram video on January 16. "This s**t is really f***in' serious, bro. This s**t is crazy. Like, our country is in a hellhole right now. All for a f***in' wall." Expressing her concern for the federal workers, she continued, "This is crazy and I really feel bad for these people that got to go f***ing work to not get mother***in' paid."
Cardi later posted again on Saturday, January 19, calling out those who are siding with Trump in his battle against Congress over funding for a border wall. "All you Trump supporters should work for free while the government is shut down to show your support," the 26-year-old wrote on Instagram.
Cardi's statements have sparked a Twitter feud between her and conservative political commentator Tomi Lahren, who mocked the Bronx femcee, "Looks like @iamcardib is the latest genius political mind to endorse the Democrats. HA! Keep it up, guys! #MAGA2020."
Cardi responded with, "Leave me alone I will dog walk you," and accused the 26-year-old vlogger of racism. The Fox News contributor hit back by branding Cardi's response as "another example of the famous Democrat double standard."
As the Shutdown was going on, Nancy Pelosi asked me to give the State of the Union Address. I agreed. She then changed her mind because of the Shutdown, suggesting a later date. This is her prerogative - I will do the Address when the Shutdown is over. I am not looking for an....

....alternative venue for the SOTU Address because there is no venue that can compete with the history, tradition and importance of the House Chamber. I look forward to giving a “great” State of the Union Address in the near future!

Meanwhile, Trump has postponed the State of the Union until after the partial government shutdown ends. While he's eager to deliver the SOTU because "the President has an incredible story to tell," the House of Representatives has nixed this, stating that the House "will not consider a concurrent resolution authorizing the President's State of the Union address in the House Chamber until government has opened."
