The rapper says his 'heart is with the victims' after earlier stating that the R 'n' B singer deserves to enjoy his legacy.

AceShowbiz - French Montana is retracting his support for R. Kelly after hinting that the R&B star should be allowed to enjoy his legacy. Clarifying his initial statement, the Morocco-born rapper took to Twitter on Sunday, January 13 to change his side and support Kelly's alleged victims instead.

"Let me be clear. My heart is with the victims," the 34-year-old began his post. "I never thought the people I looked up to as a kid, who sang and danced and gave me hope to become a superstar would become drug addicts, child molestors and rapists. I am hoping we as a culture create better leaders. We need them."

Montana earlier appeared to defend Kelly when speaking to TMZ. Met at the L.A. Coliseum after the Rams game on Saturday night, he was asked about issue. "They don't let nobody have their legendary moments," he said while walking with his entourage. "They did Michael Jackson like that," he continued, referring to child sexual abuse allegations against the late singer. "They did R. Kelly like that."

He added, "All the greats went down like that. Let somebody enjoy their legacy. Whatever happened, happened, man." Montana also noted that Kelly "went to court of law and won," referencing to the legendary singer's acquittal on 21 counts of child pornography back in 2008.

Kelly has been facing allegations of sexual abuse by multiple women following the airing of docuseries "Surviving R. Kelly". The 52-year-old star is currently under investigation by authorities in Georgia to determine if he should face criminal charges. Investigators have reportedly reached out to Asante McGee and Joycelyn Savage who shared their stories of being kept at Kelly's former Atlanta property against their will on the Lifetime series.

Last Friday, January 11, police visited his apartment at Trump Tower after receiving a report that he held two women hostage. However, after officers arrived and checked on the two women, they found no evidence that the women were held against their will.

According to TMZ, the two women were Joycelyn Savage and Azriel Clary. Both of them maintained they were with Kelly voluntarily, though their parents claimed that they were the victims of brainwashing.

R. Kelly's attorney Steve Greenberg commented on the latest visit from police, "We have said all along, there is nothing to hide, he is doing nothing wrong. The police were professional. They visited with the two young ladies, were satisfied. The women were happy, healthy, and there because they wanted to be. Hopefully this puts the ridiculous thought that he has some secret sex slaves secreted away to rest."
