Hammer plays a tourist who makes desperate attempt to protect his family, while Patel stars as a waiter who risks his life to save the guests during the terrorist attack at Taj Hotel.

AceShowbiz - Almost ten years since the 2008 Mumbai attacks, a movie specifically focusing on the attack targeting the Taj Hotel is coming to theaters. Titled "Hotel Mumbai", the movie highlights the heroic efforts of the trapped employees and guests at the hotel to survive.

"Slumdog Millionaire" star Dev Patel plays a waiter who joins forces with other kitchen staff at the hotel to help the guests stay out of sight of the terrorists. While a news reporter is heard saying that local police are not trained to deal with an attack on such a big scale, the employees are seen leading the guests through the safest way they know.

In one scene, Patel's Arjun bumps into Armie Hammer's David, who comes to the hotel as a guest with his wife and baby son. David is also seen traversing the hotel alone, almost running into one of the terrorists in the elevator.

Described as "a gripping true story of humanity and heroism," "Hotel Mumbai" vividly recounts the 2008 siege of the famed Taj Hotel by a group of terrorists in Mumbai, India. Refusing to leave their guests, the renowned chef Hemant Oberoi (Anupam Kher) and a waiter (Academy Award nominee Dev Patel) choose to risk their lives to keep everyone safe. As the world watches on, a desperate couple (Armie Hammer and Nazanin Boniadi) is forced to make unthinkable sacrifices to protect their newborn child.

The movie is based on the 2009 documentary "Surviving Mumbai", with the script written by Anthony Maras and John Collee. Maras also directs the movie, which enlists Jason Isaacs, Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Suhail Nayyar and Natasha Liu Bordizzo in the cast.

The Weinstein Company originally held the North American and U.K. rights to the film. The movie was among assets to be sold at auction during TWC bankruptcy court, but the film's backers asked the judge to remove the independent film.

Producers and the new owner of the company reached a deal in June 2018, with Bleecker Street and ShivHans Pictures co-acquiring domestic rights to the film ahead of its world premiere at Toronto last year. The film will head into theaters nationwide on March 22.
