Golden Globes 2019: Sandra Oh Is Best TV Actress, 'Green Book' Already Wins Two

As for the Best Supporting Actress in a Series or Made for TV Movie, the award goes to 'Sharp Objects' star Patricia Clarkson, who plays Adora Crellin on the HBO series.

AceShowbiz - As the 2019 Golden Globes unveiled its full winner list on Sunday, January 6, Sandra Oh emerged as the winner of Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Drama. The actress, who also serves as that night's host alongside Andy Samberg, bagged the throphy thanks to her brilliant acting on "Killing Eve".

"Oh, daddy!" the star said in tears as she saw her father giving her a standing ovation. "I'm so grateful to my family...Oh my god!" she continued saying. She concluded her speech by telling her parents that she loved them in Korean.

Also among the honorees at the annual award-giving event was Regina King. King took to the stage to accept the award for the category of Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture after starring in "If Beale Street Could Talk". She defeated other nominees including Amy Adams ("Vice"), Claire Foy ("First Man") and "The Favourite" actresses Emma Stone and Olivia Colman.

"Green Book" actor Mahershala Ali, meanwhile, came as the winner of Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture. It was is first Golden Globe win on his second nomination for his role as real-life musician Don Shirley in the comedy-drama.

Ali gave a shoutout to the musician in his speech, dubbing the latter "a brilliant man." He added, "I just want to thank him for his passion and his virtuosity, and the dignity that he carried with him every single day," Ali told the crowd after accepting his award, which was presented by Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph. He went on thanking his fellow cast and crew, as well as director Peter Farrelly.

"Green Book" cast and crew continued celebrating the night. Writers Nick Vallelonga, Brian Currie and director Farrelly who worked on the script for the movie were honored with Best Screenplay - Motion Picture award right after Ali's victory.

As for the Best Supporting Actress in a Series or Made for TV Movie, the award went to Patricia Clarkson. The actress beat fellow nominees, such as Alex Borstein ("The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel"), Penelope Cruz ("The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story"), Thandie Newton ("Westworld") and Yvonne Strahovski ("The Handmaid's Tale"), thanks to her role as matriarch Adora Crellin on HBO's take on Gillian Flynn's work "Sharp Objects".

Clarkson took the mic and thanked her friends, cast and crew. She went on joking that director Jean-Marc Vallee "demanded everything of me, except for sex, which is how it should be." At the end of her speech, she added, "This really is for my extraordinary mother and father, and I share this with you, mom and dad, in New Orleans. Cheers."
