AceShowbiz - FOX's brand new singing competition "The Masked Singer" debuted on January 2, featuring six celebrities who performed under disguises. The show, which is an adaptation of a South Korean TV series of the same name, has Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke as the panelists. Meanwhile, Nick Cannon is hosting.
In the first episode, viewers were offered face-offs between peacock vs. hippo, monster vs. unicorn, and deer vs. lion. First taking the stage was peacock who sang "The Greatest Show" from "The Greatest Showman". Robin believed that the peacock must be a professionally trained singer, with Jenny wondering if he was Hugh Jackman himself.
Following the performance was the hippo, who opted to sing Bobby Brown's "My Prerogative". Ken guessed for football star Deion Sanders.. Meanwhile, Nicole believed that the hippo could be former NBA player Allen Iverson. Later it was revealed that the winner of the first face-off was the peacock, making hippo the first contestant in the bottom three.
Performing next was the monster, who would go against the unicorn. He mesmerized everyone with a rendition of Queen's classic "Don't Stop Me Now". His performance made Jenny think he was Sean "P. Diddy" Combs. Nicole begged to differ, believing he was Gucci Mane.
Meanwhile, the unicorn sang "Fight Song" by Rachel Platten. The panelists didn't think she was a trained singer as Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and Ireland Baldwin were among the names thrown as they guessed the identity of the unicorn. Much to everyone's surprises, the unicorn won the face off.
The lion then hoped to win over the deer by performing Fergie a.k.a. Stacy Ferguson's "A Little Party Never Killed Nobody". The performance convinced Robin that she's either "well-trained professional" or a singer or model/actress. His guess were Michelle Williams (II) or Kelly Rowland. As for Nicole, she thought the lion was Spice Girls' Mel B a.k.a. Melanie Brown.
The first contestant to get their identity revealed in the season was the hippo. After he finally unmasked himself, it was revealed that the hippo is Pittsburgh Steelers star Antonio Brown!
