Addressing the drama between the 'Take My Breath Away' singer and the 'Vox Lux' star, the 'Pieces of Me' singer calls her sister 'a strong woman' for standing up for herself.

AceShowbiz - Ashlee Simpson is singing praises for her big sister's tenacity in the face of scrutiny. Days after Jessica Simpson got entangled in a conflict with Natalie Portman over virginity comments, the star of "Ashlee+Evan" expresses her satisfaction at how her sister took care of the unwarranted drama.

The "Rule Breaker" singer shared her thoughts when speaking to Will Marfuggi of E! News. "I mean, I was so proud of my sister," she gushed. "She's definitely a strong woman and she definitely stands up for herself." She added, "I was definitely supporting my sister, I was proud of her."

The friction between Jessica and Natalie occurred in early December after the latter’s interview about feminism came out. In it, the "Black Swan" beauty was quoted as saying, "I remember being a teenager, and there was Jessica Simpson on the cover of a magazine saying 'I'm a virgin' while wearing a bikini, and I was confused. Like, I don't know what this is trying to tell me as a woman, as a girl."

Disappointed for being single out by Natalie, Jessica was quick to call out the actress. "I was disappointed this morning when I read that I 'confused' you by wearing a bikini in a published photo taken of me when I was still a virgin in 1999," she tweeted. "I have made it my practice to not shame other women for their choices. In this era of Time's Up and all the great work you have done for women, I encourage you to do the same."

Natalie didn't waste any time to admit her mistake. "I would never intend to shame anybody and that was absolutely not my intention," she told Entertainment Tonight. "I was really talking about mixed media messages out there for young women and completely apologize for any hurt it may have caused, because that was definitely not my intention."
