AceShowbiz - The Saturday, December 8 episode of "Saturday Night Live" saw Jason Momoa serving as the host. The "Aquaman" actor brought back his famous "Game of Thrones" character Khal Drogo in a skit alongside Kenan Thompson.
For his monologue, the first-time host showed his goofy side by entering the stage barefoot. The hunky actor talked about his impressive physique. "I'm so muscular to be hosting 'Saturday Night Live'!" he opened his monologue. He went on saying that he's an avid fan of the NBC comedy show to the point he once considered to quit acting and moved to New York to audition for the show.
His monologue went musical before he was joined by "SNL" cast members. Leslie Jones, Kenan and Chris Redd later took the stage to convince the actor that "Aqua Boogie", which lyrics describing him as someone who never learned how to swim, as the theme song for "Aquaman".
Instead of Alec Baldwin's Donald Trump, that night's cold open centered on Eric Trump (Alex Moffat) and Don Jr (Mikey Day). Don was seen asking Eric, who was still awake in his youthful bedroom. "I'm scared. I think there's a boogeyman in my closet," Eric said. Also making an appearance was Robert De Niro who reprised her character as Special Counsel Robert Mueller.
Jason reprised Khal Drogo in a skit called "Khal Drogo's Ghost Dojo", a public access talk show hosted by Kenan that featured killed off characters as guests. The Dothraki warrior leader, who died in the first season of "Game of Thrones", was joined by Beck Bennett who played Hodor in the sketch. They also made a reference to Hodor's heartbreaking "Hold the Door" scene. Pete Davidson later appeared as the High Sparrow, with Kate McKinnon portraying King Joffrey and Aidy Bryant playing his assassin, Olenna Tyrell.
That night's "Weekend Update" saw Colin Jost and Michael Che tackled both President Donald Trump as well as Kevin Hart, the latter of whom made headlines for stepping down from his Oscar hosting gig due to old homophobic tweets.
In the skit, Michael defended Kevin, saying, "Didn't the Academy nominate Mel Gibson for an award just last year?" referencing controversial racist statements the director made a few years ago. "Also, if Kevin Hart isn't clean enough to host the Oscars, then no black comic is. The only black comic I know that's cleaner than Kevin Hart is booked for the next three to 10 years." With that, Bill Cosby's picture was shown.
