It marks the 'Melrose Place' alum's third stint in rehab this year alone following multiple emotional breakdowns.

AceShowbiz - Heather Locklear is continuing her mental illness treatment. The 57-year-old is reported to return to rehab as she's now in an inpatient treatment facility after she was previously placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold. Radar Online was the first to report.

Of The "Melrose Place" alum, a source tells the site, "She's now in rehab. Everyone hopes she will get a lot of it this time." The 57-year-old star will remain in treatment for an indefinite time. However, a source reveals that her family and friends hope Heather will stay in the facility for more than three months.

The actress' representative refuses to comment on the matter.

It marks her third stint in rehab this year alone. "Addiction is ferocious and will try to take you down," Heather opened up about substance abuse issues in an Instagram post back in September. "Recovery is the best revenge. Be kind to everyone you meet, your light just might change their path."

The news arrives after the actress was hospitalized for a week back in November. Prior to that, she was placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold for two weeks. It was said that doctors determined that Heather needed additional treatment and further evaluations that would require more time.

Sources told the website it is unlikely she will be released before the two weeks are up and the plan is for her to enter a facility for more long term treatment. However, Locklear reportedly wants to remain at home. "It's very serious and her family is gathering information needed to make a move for conservatorship," a source said at that time.

"During that 14 days, the attorney and the doctor will go to court and ask for a conservatorship and under that conservatorship, she is assigned a guardian. Overall, it gives them time to assess the patient," another source revealed.

Just last month, she was once again put on an involuntary 72-hour psychiatric hold. That followed reports of her assaulting boyfriend Chris Heisser. Reports further stated that the TV actress didn't commit a crime, explaining that hold was precautionary due to her therapist's concerns.

The multiple emotional breakdowns made her families really worried about her well-being. "Heather's family feels absolutely helpless and feels this could be the only way to save her life. She won't stay in treatment and consistently checks out early," another source revealed.

Additionally in February, Heather was arrested for assaulting a police officer. She was allegedly punching a deputy and kicking an EMT officer.
