The host of 'The Tonight Show' confesses to Margot Robbie during a round of 'Loaded Questions' segment that he thought he could date his 'Almost Famous' co-star.

AceShowbiz - Jimmy Fallon has recalled the time he was put in the friend zone by Kate Hudson.

During "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" on Monday night (December 03), the host and his guest Margot Robbie participated in a round of "Loaded Questions" - a drinking game in which participants take turns giving answers to personal questions that only they know.

For the last question, Margot refused to talk about whether she was ever tempted to date any of her former co-stars, however, Jimmy did divulge that he was once rejected by Kate, who he appeared alongside in 2000 movie "Almost Famous".

"We're hanging out. One night I took her to go see (sketch group) 'The Kids in the Hall', we both like comedy," he remembered. "And she sees Chris Robinson, the lead singer of The Black Crowes. And we meet him for the first time."

The next day, Kate called Jimmy and asked if she could borrow any CDs by The Black Crowes. They also made plans to go ice skating together in New York City's Central Park.

"We ice skate maybe three or four times around the rink and I then go, 'So, what are you doing now?' And she goes, 'I've got to go 'cause I've got a date with Chris Robinson from The Black Crowes'," the 44-year-old sighed.

An embarrassed Jimmy "cried on the inside" over his failure to woo Kate. However, he was pleased the actress did go on to date and tie the knot with the musician.

"She ended up marrying Chris Robinson and having a baby," the presenter said, before adding jokingly: "And I never got my CDs back!".

Kate and Chris had son Ryder in 2004, though divorced in 2007. Kate is now in a relationship with Danny Fujikawa, while Jimmy wed producer Nancy Juvonen in 2007, with the couple going on to become parents to two daughters.
