The 'Modern Family' actress has landed in hot water for asking fans to donate funds to help pay for her cousin's funeral when she herself earns a lot of money.

AceShowbiz - People won't let Sarah Hyland mourn the loss of her teen cousin in peace so much that she has to take a break from social media to get away from the negativity. The "Modern Family" star has sparked outraged for asking to donate funds to help pay for 14-year-old Trevor's funeral when she herself earns a lot of money.

As if that wasn't enough reason for people to be angry, the fact that Sarah only donated $1,000 only made people to be more upset. "I'm sorry but Sarah Hyland only donating 1k and asking everyone else to donate the rest of the 10k is messed up since she's a millionaire," one user wrote. "Pay the 10k and then ask for additional donations if people want to. I don't get it???"

Not letting people criticize her even more, she took to Twitter to hit back at the said critics. "I'd like to ask those who have negative thoughts or opinion about the tragedy that happened to my family, to keep them to themselves," she said on the micro-blogging site. "You don't know all the details. And how dare you attack when a beautiful life has been lost."

Despite her response, people wouldn't stop slamming her, to the point where she felt the need to break away from social media. Announcing her break, she wrote in another tweet, "You guys finally did it. Your horrible negative ignorant words have broken me. Happy? Staying offline for a while. I have a special announcement and video releasing on Wednesday I believe. So. There's that."

Sarah revealed on Sunday, December 2 that Trevor died in a drunk driving incident on the previous day and her uncle was in critical condition due to the accident. "Jeffery Eggerling hit my Uncle Car's so fact my cousin (who was wearing a seatbelt) was ejected from the car," she said at the time.
