'We will hopefully come back to Maggie's story in season 10,' showrunner Angela Kang shares.

AceShowbiz - Season 9 of AMC's "The Walking Dead" recently saw Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohan) abruptly departing from the show. However, her absent apparently won't last too long as she is poised to return in season 10 of the zombie show.

Showrunner Angela Kang has revealed her plan to get Lauren make an appearance in the next season. Though it hasn't been confirmed if the actress is down with the idea, Kang is confident with her plan.

"We will hopefully come back to Maggie's story in season 10," the showrunner shared to ComicBook.com. on Tuesday, November 20. "Lauren and I have been texting about some things, and we're hopefully gonna schedule a conversation, but Georgie's group is definitely out there in world doing some stuff, and I have some notion of what they're up to. They may also be part of the universe in general. That's really up to Scott [Gimple], but we'll see how it all plays out."

Maggie and Georgie left for a trip and it seems like Kang is attempting to offer fans of what happens in the rest of America during the zombie apocalypse by exploring Maggie's journey. "In our minds there's a lot of things going on in the world around our characters and the way that it intersects with our story," she said. "That's part of what we're talking about currently."

However, fans should note that Lauren's return has yet to be official. "We often go down multiple paths before we kind of decide on something. but I'm operating off of the idea that hopefully we'll get Lauren back. We've certainly been talking about it, so we'll see, but yeah," Kang clarified.

"The Walking Dead" franchise will further explore the world outside of the show's main bubble in planned three movies featuring former star Andrew Lincoln reprising his role as Rick Grimes.

"The Walking Dead" season 9 airs on Sundays at 9 P.M. on AMC.
