AceShowbiz - Paramount Pictures is reportedly developing a remake of its action franchise "The Saint". A new report by Deadline suggests that the studio is eyeing Chris Pratt for the new iteration.

The site adds that the "Guardians of the Galaxy" star is expected to join Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who is attached as producer of the 1997 movie. The discussions are allegedly in early stages, though the project has been put in the development for some time now.

Based on Leslie Charter's long-running book series, "The Saint" was first made into a TV series in the 1940s. It was also developed into a six-season TV series in the 1960s, starring Roger Moore as Simon Templar, the wealthy adventurer. The franchise was adapted into a feature film back in 1997 by Paramount with Phillip Noyce serving behind the lens. In the Jonathan Hensleigh and Wesley Strick-written flick, Val Kilmer took on the role of Templar while Robert Evans produced.

"The Saint" followed Templar, a British Bond and Robin Hood-type figure who specialized as a thief and a con man. He eventually evolved into secret agent during World War II, before becoming more of an all-purpose adventurer.

Chris Pratt made its breakthrough after portraying Peter "Star-Lord" Quill in James Gunn's original "Guardians of the Galaxy" movies. He further rocketed to stardom after playing heroic role as Owen Grady in "Jurassic World" in 2015. He most recently reprised the role in "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom", in which he reunited with "Jurassic World" co-star Bryce Dallas Howard.

The third movie of "Guardian of the Galaxy" was put on hiatus after Disney fired Gunn from the franchise for offensive old tweets. Pratt will next be seen in Vincent D'Onofrio's western "The Kid" and once again lends his voice to Emmit Brickowski in "The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part". The actor is also set to reprise Owen in the upcoming "Jurassic World 3".
