The singer-songwriter's team sends a cease and desist letter to POTUS after the latter plays his song 'Happy' at a Midwest rally hours after mass shooting.

AceShowbiz - Unlike the title of his song, Pharrell Williams is not happy about the fact that Donald Trump played his hit song "Happy" at a Midwest rally hours after Pittsburgh synagogue shooting. It apparently bothered him so much that his team sent a cease and desist letter to POTUS.

"On the day of the mass murder of 11 human beings at the hands of a deranged 'nationalist,' you played his song 'Happy' to a crowd of political event in Indiana," the singer's attorney Howard King wrote in the letter. "There was nothing 'happy' about the tragedy inflicted upon our country on Saturday and no permission was granted for your use of this song for this purpose."

King continued by saying that Williams would not ever grant Trump permission to use his music at rallies. The attorney also claimed that the use of "Happy" without his client's consent constituted both copyright and trademark infringement. Thus is Trump ever uses the song again at his upcoming rallies, he can be sued for that.

This isn't the first time Trump received legal threat over his song choices at political events. Prior to this, Prince's estate asked the president to stop playing the late singer's music after he used "Purple Rain" at a pre-Election Day rally. Steven Tyler also sent him a cease and desist letter asking him to stop using Aerosmith's music.

"This is not about Democrats vs. Republicans," the band's frontman said in a statement. "I do not let anyone use my songs without my permission. My music is for causes not political campaigns or rallies. Protection copyright and songwriters is what I've been fighting for even before this current administration took office. This is one of the reasons why Joe and I have been pushing the Senate to pass the Music Modernization Act. NO is a complete sentence."
