Honored with Woman of the Year Award by Peggy Albrecht Friendly House, the 'Rough Night' actress admits that she 'had absolutely no value' for herself early in her career.

AceShowbiz - Demi Moore got candid about her past battle to sobriety. The "Rough Night" actress unveiled that she was saved by two people she barely knew early in her career as she opened up about her recovery from addiction upon receiving Women of the Year Award from Peggy Albrecht Friendly House.

At the event held at Beverly Hilton Hotel in California on Saturday, October 27, the 55-year-old actress confessed that she received the unforeseen support when she went through "a real crisis point" in her life. "It wasn't clear at the time the reason - maybe it was divine intervention - but two people who I barely knew stepped up and took a stand for me," she spilled, "and they presented me with an opportunity."

"In fact, it was more like an ultimatum," the ex-wife of Bruce Willis further pointed out. "Unless I was dead, that I better show up. They gave me a chance to redirect the course of my life before I destroyed everything. Clearly, they saw more of me than I saw of myself. And I'm so grateful because without that opportunity, without their belief in me, I wouldn't be standing here today."

As for why she needed the intervention, the Madison Lee of "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" explained, "Early in my career, I was spiraling down a path of real self-destruction, and no matter what successes I had, I just never felt good enough." She went on to admit, "I had absolutely no value for myself."

Demi concluded her speech by sharing positive message to other people who also deal "with not feeling good enough at some point in their lives." She said, "I know in a moment of great struggle for me, I've reached out to a wise teacher and expressed my fear that I wasn't good enough and she said, 'You will never be good enough, but you can know the value of your worth. Put down the measuring stick.' So today, I put down the measuring stick and I thank you for this beautiful acknowledgment and the opportunity to know the value of my worth."

Demi first sought treatment for drug and alcohol abuse in the mid-1980s. She was back to rehab in 2012 after she suffered convulsions due to alleged drug use and drastic weight loss. In a 911 call, a friend of her could be heard telling the operator, "She smoked something. It's not marijuana, but it's similar to incense and she seems to be having convulsions of some sort."
