Opening up about her addiction to the narcotics, the Laurie Strode of 'Halloween' reveals her sister Kelly saved her life by showering her with love and support upon discovery.

AceShowbiz - Jamie Lee Curtis has dropped a major shocker. The actress famous for her portrayal of Laurie Strode in "Halloween (2018)" got candid about her secret opioid addiction in recent interview, and further opened up on overcoming the embarrassment for being an addict almost 20 years ago by accepting her humanity.

In the latest cover story for People magazine, the 59-year-actress admitted that her addiction embarrassed her. "The shame involved with it is tremendous," she spilled. Still, she refused to let herself remain feeling that way. "I have worked very hard to remove the shame of it and just acknowledge I'm human," she explained. "It's really about letting go of the secret in a safe way and then finding treatment programs that work for you.”

The wife of actor/director Christopher Guest then pointed out, "What makes recovery so special is that it's one addict or alcoholic talking to another." She added that she now helps other addicts by sharing her own experience. "In recovery meetings, anyone who brings up opiates, the entire room will turn and look at me, because I'll be like, 'Oh here, talk to me. I'm the opiate girl,' " she gushed. "We're here to relate to each other. We're human. We're all trying to figure this out - all of us.”

Jamie also credited her sister, Kelly Curtis, for her sobriety. Recalling the time she confessed to Kelly for stealing her prescribed painkillers, the "True Lies" actress detailed how her sister responded with love instead of judgment. "She put her arms around me and told me she loved me and she was concerned about me and she was unwilling to watch me kill myself," she disclosed.

Despite her success in Hollywood, Jamie confessed that it wasn't awards or other recognition that brought her the ultimate satisfaction. "Getting sober remains my single greatest accomplishment," she stated, "bigger than my husband, bigger than both of my children and bigger than any work, success, failure. Anything."
