The Duchess of Cambridge wears Princess Diana's favorite tiara for a state banquet at Buckingham Palace.

AceShowbiz - Kate Middleton looked every inch a royal during The Netherlands State Banquet at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday night, October 23. The wife of Prince William was dazzling in a form-fitted blue Alexander McQueen gown for the event, but it was her diamond-studded tiara that stole attention.

The 36-year-old duchess wore the Lover's Knot tiara, which was Princess Diana's favorite tiara. Sometimes referred to as the Cambridge Lover's Knot, it was gifted to the late mother of Prince William as a wedding present for her marriage to Prince Charles.

Kate further paid tribute to Princess Diana with her accessories, pearl drop earrings and gold bracelet, which also belonged to her late mother-in-law. The mother of three completed her regal look with Queen Alexandra's wedding necklace, while her hair was styled in classic updo.

Kate joined her husband Prince William, Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, at the state banquet in honor of the visiting Dutch royals. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands were among the guests of honor at the state dinner, with Prime Minister Theresa May also in attendance.

During the state dinner, royal family fans also noticed that Kate didn't wear a sash like the ones donned by the Queen and Camilla. The blue sash represents the Royal Victorian Order of Queen Elizabeth II, which is given to relatives in the royal family as a reward for their service.

Kate, however, wore a yellow badge on her dress. The yellow badge bears a similar significance to the blue sash, indicating that she has been given the Royal Family Order. It appears that the badge is still new, since she didn't wear it to previous royal engagements.
